About the Founder & Editor:

I am an advocate for simple living, minimalism and living with intention; a follower of Jesus Christ; a lover of God’s grace and glory.  I am a dreamer, believer, writer, creator, Holy Spirit prayer, poet, artist, lover, learner, alternative home educator, bibliophile and idea girl sharing God’s grace as I intentionally learn to live this analog lifestyle I call, Intentionalism.  An American living in Ontario, Canada for more than twenty years, I am married to a handsome creative-type; he is a pastor.  We have two amazing children who still live at home with us, and for more than a decade, all the way through high school graduation, studied at home while enjoying a wide variety of “worthy books and things” (this site’s former name); we called this a living education and we loved it!  P.S. They were both accepted into the colleges of their choice and are pursuing their dreams as they live lives that celebrate God’s grace and goodness and demonstrate His love in action.

I write about all this and more here at INTENTIONAL LIVING.  Perhaps you will join the conversation?  I look forward to our visit.

A hand written, thoughtfully curated collection of Articles, Images, Lists, Quotes, Poetry, Songs and Stories to encourage and inspire the Everyday Creative.

If this is your first visit to INTENTIONAL LIVING, thanks for visiting!  Let’s get to know each other.

My name is Una-Melina, I am an introvert.  I love Jesus, poetry, art, music, reading, daydreaming and design.  I am the love-child of a flower child; yes, my parents were hippies. I love the sound of the wind in the trees and may have even hugged one or two. I am an INFJ and a highly sensitive person.  I like to travel; I am seasonally affected and solar powered. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me very happy! I am fond of parentheses and my favorite punctuation mark is the humble semi colon. I am all about simplicity, minimalism, mindful moments and intentional living.

Here I write about many things but most often orbit around a few specific categories: Faith, Culture, Creativity and Family. In addition to INTENTIONAL LIVING which you can follow here, I also have a few other projects on which I am currently working: my husband and I are the Senior Leaders at a vibrant, growing church near Toronto and it is my delight and privilege to regularly support, encourage, coach, counsel and pray for our staff and executive ministry team as we equip the Church for the work of the ministry.  I love art, architecture, nature and the colour green.  I studied interior design, and recently finished an eighteen-month intensive renovation of a 1947 bungalow in our home town.

I have a passion for the presence of God; I believe God is love and everyone is my neighbor.  I have a love of, indeed, need for, silence, solitude, poetry, nature, sunshine and Scripture. I will sometimes share portions of my most intimate experiences (e.g.: the loss of a sibling) because I hope that in doing so they might bring a measure of connection, understanding and healing to the reader.

After spending twelve years traveling in full-time Christian ministry as a singer/songwriter, public speaker and recording artist I married the handsome, happy, positive and playful love of my life; an innovative pastor, church-planter, dynamic leader, visionary, film & graphic designer, musician and all around creative-type. We currently live in Canada where we have spent the last two decades in and out of pastoral ministry, planting churches and ministering to local congregations in southern Ontario.  I am passionate about seeing God’s lost children found, and I love to minister to the ministers. I am a Spirit-filled woman of faith, seasonal recluse, and grace advocate; I am also a strong supporter of the local church; immigrant, minister, pastor’s wife, home educator, Jesus feminist and everyday creative.

To say that I was raised by wolves the first decade of my life would be putting it mildly.

Broken family, insecurity, unhealthy relationships, addiction, poverty, crime, abuse, abandonment, neglect, danger, salvation, deliverance, forgiveness, redemption, healing, grace; ashes and beauty; all part of my story.

This blog is where I share my story as it is told, bit by bit, one small entry at a time.  A collage of God’s grace and goodness; divine love stories pieced together from the various chapters of my life. It is also a peaceful quiet place I’ve made to share, tucked away between the pages of our everyday rhythm and routine; a grace gallery where we can share the many graces God has manifest in our lives.  Sometimes I post the works of others that may be interesting or helpful.  For article submission guidelines please send me a message.

I love the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans; it smells like novels waiting to be written; the promise of a paragraph paused mid sentence or sip.

I have an on-again-off-again romance with (caffeinated) coffee. I am also rather fond of a proper cup of tea… Classic orange pekoe in the morning, herbal tea in the evening, green tea with honey/lemon to combat mid-winter colds and blues, a refreshing iced sweet-tea (with lemon) on a hot sunny summer afternoon, and London fog lattes on grey rainy days.    I become practically giddy at the discovery of a great new (or used) bookstore or the acquisition of a new journal.  An amateur ornithologist, I have had an almost lifelong fascination with birds.

I dream of one day owning a writer’s cottage on a sunny Caribbean island; wintering there and writing stories that people want to read and that bring hope to the reader.

I want to see God’s kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

I am glad you are here!  Let’s get to know each other.

How do you take your tea?
