Scripture memory choices for 2013… Ephesians, Colossians or finishing Philippians?  The children have not yet memorized Psalm 1 or 23.  What shall we say then?  For we know that Romans 5-8 are also fantastic chapters where grace abounds.

Aha!   How appropriate that on this Epiphany Sunday I would have an epiphany of my own.  In keeping with my newly discovered love for the number thirteen (Seriously, where is this coming from?) I have decided that we shall memorize 1 Corinthians 13!  Yes of course, we will focus on the LOVE chapter for this our Year of Jubilee.  How simple and totally inspired.  And it has just how many verses?  Exactly thirteen verses in the whole chapter.  I love it!

Until then, here’s a tasty portion of Biblical nectar to drink up and upon which to meditate…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

-John 1:1-5, 14

Oh how I love the vital illumination of the gracious and true living Word!

Do you hope to include Scripture memory in your holy habits this year?  What are some of your favorite passages?
